Cookie Notice

Effective date: July 1, 2026. Last updated: July 1, 2026.

The short version. Viraldico uses only the cookies it needs to sign you in and keep the Service secure. We run no advertising and no cross-site tracking, and the analytics we use is cookieless, so there is nothing here that follows you around, and there is no consent banner to click through.

1. Our approach to cookies

We treat cookies the way we treat everything else about your data, which is to use as few as possible. Viraldico sets a small number of strictly necessary cookies so that signing in and staying signed in works, and so that the Service stays secure. We do not use cookies to build a profile of you, to show advertising, or to measure you across other websites. We do measure aggregate traffic to improve the site, but with a privacy-first, cookieless analytics tool that stores nothing in your browser and sets no cookies, so it adds no banner and no choice for you to make.

This notice explains the cookies we use and how you can control them. It sits alongside our Privacy Policy, which describes how we handle personal information more broadly.

2. What cookies are

A cookie is a small text file that a website stores in your browser. Cookies let a site remember things between page loads and visits, such as the fact that you are signed in. Some related technologies, such as local storage, work in a similar way. Where we mention cookies in this notice, we mean cookies and those similar technologies together.

3. The cookies we use

3.1 Strictly necessary cookies

These cookies are required for the Service to work. They keep you signed in, complete the magic-link sign-in flow, and protect sign-in from cross-site request forgery. Without them, you could not log in or use your account.

CookiePurposeTypeExpires
Session token (for example __Secure-authjs.session-token)Keeps you signed in to your accountStrictly necessaryWhen your session ends, or up to 30 days
CSRF token (for example __Host-authjs.csrf-token)Protects sign-in from cross-site request forgeryStrictly necessaryWhen your session ends
Callback URL (for example __Secure-authjs.callback-url)Completes the magic-link sign-in flowStrictly necessaryWhen your session ends

3.2 Checkout cookies (set by Paddle)

When you buy a paid plan, the checkout step is hosted by our payment provider and Merchant of Record, Paddle. Paddle sets its own cookies on its checkout pages for payment and fraud-prevention purposes, under its own policy. These are not set by Viraldico, and they appear only when you go through checkout. You can read how Paddle handles this at paddle.com/legal/privacy.

4. What we do not use

To be plain about the absences, which are deliberate:

  • No advertising cookies. We show no ads, so there are no ad cookies and no ad networks.
  • No cross-site tracking. We do not track you across other websites, and we set no third-party tracking pixels.
  • No behavioral analytics. Our analytics is cookieless and aggregate. It counts visits to improve the site, and it does not profile you or follow you across other websites.
  • No selling or sharing. Nothing a cookie helps us do is sold, shared with data brokers, or used to train artificial-intelligence models.

5. Why you do not see a cookie banner

Because Viraldico uses only strictly necessary cookies, the kind that do not require prior consent, we do not show a cookie consent banner. Our analytics is deliberately cookieless, so even measuring our traffic adds no cookie and no consent step. We think the calmest cookie experience is the one you never have to think about. If we ever introduce a cookie that is not strictly necessary, we will ask for your consent first and update this notice before that cookie is set.

6. Managing cookies in your browser

You are always in control of cookies through your browser settings. You can see the cookies a site has stored, delete them, and block new ones. Browser help pages explain how, and the steps differ a little between Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Edge. One thing to know: because our cookies are strictly necessary, blocking them will sign you out and prevent you from logging back in, so the Service will not work as intended until you allow them again.

7. Changes to this notice

We may update this notice if our use of cookies changes. If we make a material change, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where the law requires, take reasonable steps to let you know. If a future change introduces non-essential cookies, we will also put a consent mechanism in place at that time.

8. How this relates to our Privacy Policy

This notice covers cookies specifically. Our Privacy Policy covers the wider picture, including what personal information we collect, how we use and share it, your rights, and our commitments on reader privacy and library confidentiality. Where the two overlap, read them together.
